Guten Tag!
The classic novel I have chosen, The Song of the Lark by Willa Cather, is certainly not the most well-known, especially amongst those around my age. It isn't the most engaging or exciting book, as it's more of a slightly altered autobiography than anything else. Then, you must be wondering, what intrigued me to pick up this novel? From what I've read, it seems that I can greatly relate to the protagonist, Thea Kronborg. Thea is basically an alter ego for Cather, as their lives unfold in very much the same way. The Song of the Lark describes an altered version of Cather's life; the development of an artist. I myself am an artist, and am greatly curious about how an artist would mature into an adult, and if I would be able to apply that information to my own life. As I read, the author's use of an almost excessive amount of detail will come to light, and I'll be able to determine whether or not it should remain as a classic novel, or if it will indeed die with this generation of readers.
